Log in to add an alertThe previous alert was for below Apple Valley bridge, not Shelly's. Shelly's has minor amounts of small trees/branches in the river, an inch or two in diameter at most and not covering significant parts of the river.
There are three or four large strainers in this section, many covering 3/4 of the width of the river. Relatively easy for experienced paddlers to avoid, but dangerous for inexperienced paddlers. Strainers were 1ft + in diameter. All were at least partially visible at ~250 cfs. Some are visible from the road when shuttling.
WHEN: Sunday, May 29 2016. WHERE: U.S. Route 36, ~ Mile Marker 17, downstream of Shelly's Cottages, before the Apple Valley Bridge. WHAT: WARNING/HAZARD/STRAINER. Loose bridge or fence lodged in the center of the river.
