Log in to add a reportThe mini gorge under the Wentworth covered bridge is well worth a couple laps on its own at 1.9', solid class 3
I paddled this solo on 4/15/23. Put-in at Studio Rd (Warren), took out at Sandhill Rd in Rumney (distance of about 12 miles). Very pushy class 1-2. Lots of strainers. Somewhere between the Canoe Access Parking lot on Route 25 and the covered bridge/town park in Wentworth, I got caught in a sweeper on the left side and got plunged underwater, pushed under by the log. Not sure entirely what happened but it was pretty scary. Got thrown out of boat, and had to swim for surface. Later, near the top of the falls, the water is super-pushy - I was able to ferry to river left to portage but I was getting pushed pretty fast into the top of the falls.
Will Kranz and I paddled this section in April 2016. We'd consider the minimum level to be 2.0 feet. There were numerous strainers during the first mile, some river-wide.
