River Description

Will Reeves 'This is a single vertical ledge that at certain levels is a 10'-12' vertical Class III drop. If this were in any state other than Florida it would probably not merit an AW listing. It could represent the highest runnable waterfall in Florida, however as the creek fills up the drop becomes smaller. At extreme flow there is a hole at the base.'

Donald M. Kelly 'Columbia County now has a small park bordering Falling Creek, with a boardwalk leading to the falls. In 2005, the park did not have staff on-site full time and no fee was requested. (Nonetheless, it's a well-maintained park, although it has no 'facilities'.) Signs did not prohibit boating. Water levels for Falling Creek parallel those of the Suwannee River, into which it flows. When the Suwannee White Springs USGS gauge is much below 56', Falling Creek will likely have inadequate water. When White Springs is above 65', Falling Creek and the falls will likely be flooded. (Falling Creek does not flow continuously to the Suwannee, so don't plan a trip to the Suwannee from the falls.)

Falling Creek Falls is located near Lake City, Florida. Turn north off of I-10 onto US 41 and take the first right, which is County Road 131; the park is about a mile away.'
