2. Sinks to the Elbow(Lower Little)
This photo shows the Mouse Trap pin slot/sieve in the 1st Meanies drop. One of two very dangerous known hazards in the Meanies rapids, just above the bridge and the Sinks falls. The description for this section mentions "a pin spot right in the middle of the rapid". I am not sure if there are two pin spots here, but this one is on river left and it is very easy to look right over it while scouting from the roadside. The current pushes you right into this slot if you run the center line. It is recommended to hit the entrance boof on river-right, and either catch the mid-rapid eddy and peel out to finish the rapid. Or just keep your bow pointed right through the whole rapid and drive hard to the right (river right). A swim here is potentially deadly, as the hole in the 2nd Meanies is now the site of more than one entrapment fatality. If you do run the Meanies, be aware that while this is Class IV paddling, there are potentially Class V consequences. Set safety.
