River Description
Note: **Jan. 2009 ice storm deposited lots of wood in the creek, creek is currently most likely unrunnable.**The combination of Steep banks and lots of dead red oak trees (thanks to the borer beetle infestation) tend to clog the creek with wood from time to time, so keep look out.
Put-in elevation is approximately 1507'.
Take-out elevation is approximately 863'.
Thus total elevation change is approximately 644'.
2.15 Miles on the Left Hand Prong and then 6.35 miles on the North Fork Illinois Bayou to the Victor Road bridge. (Note: Gradient figures cited at top of description are just for LHP. The overall run will be 76 FFM average.)
The creek starts out small until joining with the Right Hand Prong and Cedar Creek. Most drops are tight continuous class II-III in nature but a few IVs are scattered in for good measure. Scenery is excellent!
