Log in to add an alertBig thanks to the Bigfoot Trail Alliance and Ascend Wilderness for clearing the Wooley Creek Trail from the trailhead to a little ways upriver of the Wooley Camp spur trail. In early April 2025, they removed 75 trees from the trail, facilitating its use by boaters and others. As of March 26, 2023, there are several wood issues in the Wooley Creek below Wooley Camp, including channel-spanning blockages. Be on high alert for wood and scout frequently. The first tree blocking the full channel is within a 1/2 mile of Wooley Camp. The rapid at Gates Creek has a tree blocking the center and left. A nasty log jam is in the lower gorge, not far upstream of the Fat Lady Sings. These are all marked on the Salmon River hazard map that is linked to in the run description. Be on high alert for wood and scout frequently: there is a lot of wood on the banks that can mobilize in high runoff flows.
As of April 24, 2023, the Wooley Creek Trail is now clear of fallen trees from the trailhead, past the Wooley Camp spur trail, and up to Bridge Creek (Fowler Cabin). Upstream of here the trail is not clear. Give thanks (and a donation) to the Siskiyou Mountain Club for clearing the trail! siskiyoumountainclub.org
