River Description

Most folks consider Canyon Creek a nice scenic attraction. The run is insanely steep and has some big gnarr on it. While most of this creek is a boulder filled log jam infested brook the final gorge is good to go and is full of big drops and slides. The last drop is at least 25 feet in height. Scout carefully and be aware that the final gorges are separated by a low scrappy section. The access issue is in flux as parts of the road and riverside are privately owned. The river howsoever is on national forest land.

Shuttle: Take train to Tacoma. Hike up Canyon creek, boat out to Rockwood on the Animas.

This is the first of the runnable vert drops. Maybe 20-25', this falls twists 90-degrees to the right as it drops. This is the falls pictured in CRCII. The sound of a boat hull hitting the twist sounded like skateboard wheels on a vert ramp. So fun...
