River Description
Just a series of 4 or 5 REALLY BIG waterfalls.
They have all been run. Look for Overflow Creek to be high before Brasstown is running. The usual routine is to run the falls then hike back up to the cars at the put-in. The final two miles to the lake are pretty flat. There is good road access where the creek hits the lake.
Some boaters hike back out after running the second or third waterfall, because the major drops are almost at the parking lot. The first drop can be a real back breaker.
The first two big falls. The one in the foreground is about a 30 footer. Photo by Brad Roberts.

Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportI hiked this section today...there was no water but we measured the falls and checked the landing zone...The vertical falls is not 30 feet but 22 feet. And it has rocks that are pretty close to the landing zone..the landing zone was about 4 feet to 6 feet deep. the farther away from the lip the deeper. This thing drops over a hundred feet in a little over the distance of a football field...it is steep.
Chattooga was at 11 ft
Chattooga was at 11ft.
Chattooga was at 11ft. If the rapid isn't named it's now called 'The Keibler Elf'
After we ran the 30 footer and the Keibler Elf we snapped this picture and began the hike back up. Make sure you scout this stuff.
30' drop followed by a 45' off vertical. Big shit that should't be taken lightly.
