River Description

There is a 25 foot waterfall about 1/2 mile above the confluence of Peachtree Creek and Marsh Fork of the Big Coal.

The most convenient take-out is at the Peachtree road (CR10) bridge crossing Marsh Fork near Naoma. This will add 1 mile to the trip.

Ran the falls this spring. Did not have a good experience. The rock wall that backs the falls starts to intercept the curtain at lower flows which I ran it at. Penciled over the lip because I scaped at the low water volume, and hit/bounced off the rock wall that the curtain cascades off of into the pool. Was temporarily paralized for about 5-10 seconds. Wet exited and squirmed/cursed the pain off enough in about 2 minutes to begin swimming toward my boat which was already 50 yds downstream. The drag back up the streambed was torturous with the pain in my back. The pool below the falls is deep enough(6-7ft) if you have a descent boof but short enough that a strong boof at higher flows will land you in shallower water. Ideal run: 5 ft off river right bank into the pool, 3 ft boof in front of the cascade. Also to note: pool is trashy, visually observed old rims and other rusty metal objects and cut my foot on something through my rodeo sock. I would rate this waterfall class V because there is little room for error as I found out personally. Running river left would be very hazerdous to one's health as it is very shallow.
