River Description

This is a fun section of mini gorges and small pastoral valleys. The rapids (as you might expect) are frequently at turns where stunning rock walls show themselves.

The first mile or so tilts downhill with frequent II+ ledge series that hint at more serious stuff upstream. Things flatten out a bit and you're left with the occasional rapid and cobble garden.

A series of small state roads parallel the river without intruding much on the scenery. You can use low water bridges or spots where the river runs next to it for a putin. There is a low water bridge on a public road near where SR 600 and SR 622 intersect. There is a house right there so it's probably best to ask permission.

On a recent trip, I paddled down Paddy Run, a side tributary, to get access.

The bottom section of Cedar Creek is similar and holds its water longer. Also check out nearby Stony Creek, which is a very similar trip with slightly more aggressive rapids.
