River Description
Dropping through the Gogebic Range only six or so miles to the west of it's better known tributary, the Brunsweiler, the Marengo has a larger watershed and may serve as a good alternative should the Brunsweiler be a little low. The rating is an educated guess as I have no concrete data at this time. Some of the lower gradient water could be eliminated by locating a put-in off Marengo River Rd (located just east of the bridge) about 1.6 miles from Town Hall Rd and a take-out at the end of Stienstra Rd (located about a quarter mile south of the bridge on Four Corner). This would yield a run of 8.2 miles with an average gradient of 31'/mile.
Note that on the Topo map, the portion of the Marengo immediately downstream of the put-in is mislabeled as Hawkens Creek.

FWIW, for the entire year of 2024, that gauge read over 325 cfs for just about one full day, and was over 300 cfs just about 2.5 days, over 250 cfs for 5.8 days, and over 100 cfs nearly 52 days.
