River Description

The SF Piney is a scenic, wooded, class V- run with nearly-continuous technical and boofy boulder gardens. Some folks opt to do laps on the 'Cascades' section near the top, which is a real highlight of this run. But don't neglect the rest of this section - there are plenty more drops downstream.

Give yourself time to explore this Virginia gem and keep your eyes open for wood.

This was what the Piney was like from the put-in to the take-out. The first mile clocks in at 480 fpm and the second at 400 fpm.
