River Description
The creek is in Spartanburg Co. Off Hwy.221 near Talltales Fish Camp.
Turn right off 221 go past where you turn to go to fish camp.Go about 1 mile around sharp turn , old mill on right. The slide drops about 20 ft. in about 50 ft.It's pretty big but has a big pool at the bottom.I'd say class III,maybe.Down stream is a .25 mile set of class II's before cornmill Rd.Then about 1 mile the river runs under Mayo Rd.Has a good take out there. The parts we ran were flowing sunday morning after .65 inches of rain.Everyone needs to check this run out, reminded me of the upper Green, just a little narrow in a few places. No dam release/rain only run. It's a least as good as the Tyger.IMHO
There is a surfing wave right under the cornmill Rd Brdg.
We surfed back and forth on this wave. With another inch or so of rain it would be a great park and play spot.We were really suprised to find this so close to home.
