River Description
Located in the 'heart of downtown', at the site of an island in the river. A $1.5 million project created this whitewater park. A dam was removed, and 7000 tons of flat-top rock and boulders was brought in and strategically laid to create whitewater features. While it boasts a half mile length, in truth it is two channels, one being 1400' (with 5 drop/pools) and the other 1200' (with six drop/pools).
Each May the Truckee River Whitewater Park hosts the Reno River Festival. This is a multi-day celebration of the river, featuring competition, expo and entertainment. This is a great time to come and visit Reno. See www.renoriverfestival.com for more info.
