The Gateway Park venue is now open for activities. A great addition to Iowa's whitewater play parks. Current river flow guidance is listed in the description and paddlers are accumulating additional data. More trip reports to follow in the summer of 2026.

It's not often that the City leaves the flood gates open and you find the dam exposed. So, we had to do it. They must have heard we were on the way 'cause they close one of the tainters making it too risky to run the chutes. This dam is a class VII when there's water over it.

Boogie boards make a nice break from paddling until Dad runs you over!

There's enough room in the hole for 2 - sometimes.

Good shot of the slide. With a little more water it works pretty well.

This is actually at the rail road bridge in Waterloo...not the Clay Hole. Enjoy it while you can. It's hard to catch.
A broken up low-head dam provides for some entertainment.
