A few of us made another run on Shoe on 12/1/10. The nearby Piney gauge was at 1200 and falling. We had a near-perfect level for Shoe. This time a couple of us chose to run the entire 'Herkheimer Falls' rapid, which has previously been a half-portage (seal-launch, slide-in on left bank into 2nd half of rapid). This is the one labelled 'death trap' in the Photos page. But this time we ran it from top to bottom on the left side. The extra water helped the top part, but made the hole at the bottom even more stout than on previous runs. Luckily we both made it through without issues. That is one less portage on this fun run.

A group ran this 11/17/06 and it was really fun. Bring a solid 4X4 to ford the creek so you can drive up a ways. We did not and walked the whole thing but its pretty easy. Some of the best slides on top have wood but a small saw would take about 10 minutes to clean it out.other than that its really clean and fun. Water was too low to run the big waterfall the day we were there.

The first two are of the top drop we ran on the North Fork of Shoe Creek. We aren't sure if it's ever been run before. Dave Hoffman is the boater that is completely submerged. The bottom two are in the Cascades section on the South Fork of the Piney (both Dave again). I've got more that I'm working on getting up. Thanks to everyone who cut the wood out, and thanks Mason for showing us Shoe.
