River Description

This section of clear creek was once probably an amazing section of river, but 4 lanes of interstate, mining activity, and a railroad have tossed so much broken rock in it that the creek has been forced out of its originol river bed. There are huge dead trees still standing straight up directly in the river bed. Despite this it is run on occasion, sane people will do it eastern style - morning dew on the rocks level. It's easily accessed from the scenic overlook on eastbound I-70 between Georgtown and Silverplume. I reccomend checking out this section at peak water when the gradient, power, and general insanity of this strech is incredible. Although the gradient for the full run from Silverplume to Georgetown is 'only' 390, keep in mind that almost all of that elevation is lost within the first 1/2 mile.
