Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportFirst descent of what I am calling Atomic Dog Falls. This was after three inches of rain hit the area. I hiked in and scouted the rapid which consists of a large slide striaght into a 16-18 ft drop. The pool is very shallow so a good boof is mandatory. Shout out Josh Shoda and David Huyck for support and mission knowledge.
Anybody know anything about this run?Gradient numbers look like it might be interesting.
All of the gradient is is a steep 30 or so foot no-pooled drop... the area is now fenced off... forget this one................ Danny McGaha
I meet a drunk local chicken farmer up there and he hiked me back about a good 1/4 a mile to the creek. it opened up to a 40 foot slide! but a 30 foot drop right after a short pool and the landing river right would break you, and the landing river left was not much better. if someone is going to run in i want to witness it! the drunk guy said there wasnt any other rapids on the creek that he knew of and he also grew up in a house close by. as far as it being a class 3, no way the drop is to big and to shallow!
i tell the truth. the gradient is all in one spot. you can hike back there, i think its henson road. go back and there will be a big curve to the left and hike down the fence line on your right till you hit the river. i had guy that lives in a trailer on the right before the curve and he was the one who showed me. he was wasted and a bit sketchy, but pretty harmless
gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Only a half a foot of water at the bottom. You will need a LOT of flow to even attempt.
i almost don't believe this...the gauge is always green (probably a fluke) and now you say there is a 60 foot drop on this stretch? Really? Doesn't look like that on the topo....Anyone got any photos to back this up?
