River Description
After driving over Flint Creek on US 412 dozens of times and wondering 'what's down there,' Ted Wilson and I finally paddled this section in December 2004.
We were pleasantly surprised with good scenery, fun little river features and sparkling clear water.
Main hazards are the dam at the put-in and strainers.
The put-in is right at the 412 bridge. Parking is on the west side of the creek.
For playboaters, there are some good eddy lines at the very beginning and at Fidler's Bend, which is the confluence with the Illinois River.
Access at Fidler's is private, and unfortunately not accessible for boaters. The first legal takeout that we know of is 6 miles downstream (18 shuttle miles) on the Illinois River, apparently at Chewey Rd., 2 miles off OK-10.
