River Description
This is a micro creek at the put-in, make sure you are there soon after a good rain. If there isn't enough water check out the other sections of the creek.
Per Chester Robinson:
Put-in: On Hwy 16 after going through Alread and Rupert, turn left onto Anchor Rd. just pass the Pleasant Grove Church. When Anchor Rd. T's turn right onto Brock Rd., and when Brock splits go right and then onto Moonlight Rd. 2WD's can park up on the hill and drag down. 4WD's can continue down the hill on a woods road to a lower parking area, and then put in on the river at a 4 wheeler crossing at the convergence of two small forks.
Take-out: National Forest Road 1342 crossing below Koone Hollow. Or use a longer shuttle and access from the South on Slick Rock Road (FSR 1307. This road has recently been improved and offers better access for vehicles.
This starts off with lots of rock bumping action and is mostly low volume at first, narrow, with technical rapids. It has very few pools, and is only suitable for boaters with good boat control. Depending on level, one rapid may be a Class III. About 2 miles down you enter a logged area and strainers may be present. At around mile 4, Wilson creek enters from river left and the river picks up speed. About mile 8, hunters have placed a wire cable (N 35 33.725 W092 44.738) across the creek above Koone Hollow, probably in order to walk across the river during hunting season.
Signs of older downed cables were also present and should be watched for in this area. The cables we last encountered were about 12' above our heads. A warning sign has been placed on a tree upstream from the cab

After about 5 miles, begin to look on the left for Dabney Rd. and turn left onto it. Then take first main dirt road left and down the hill where road becomes 4wd only, and parallels the creek, park where it turns left and crosses the creek. 2WD's can park further back and drag to the creek. Convergence with the SFLR is about .8 mile downstream. GPS parking cordinates are N 35 38.546' & W092 45.910'.
We took out at a road on river left, just above the cable hazard coordinates listed, where the river turns right and the cables use to be just downstream. Including a 20 minute break, the trip time was 4 hours.
