Currently, there are about 5 river-wide strainers between Old Stone Road and Old Stage Road. (They look like they have been there a while.) The portages around them are messy and muddy and the paddle itself is boring. There were no rapids at all until the bridge at Old Stage Road.

I would advise against putting in at Old Stone Road. Instead, Old Stage Road is highly recommended. Other paddlers in Hoofers have paddled the Hwy 59 section and said it was clear of obstructions for the most part.
