Onion Creek

As of this writing, construction at the F.M. 1626 bridge prevents access to Onion Creek from the highway easement, and the bar (Buck's Backyard) has forbidden paddlers from accessing the creek through their property. Until the construction is complete, it is difficult or impossible to legally use F.M. 1626 as a put-in or takeout.

In early September of 2018, the landowners at river left called the Sheriff's Dept. on paddlers at Teardrop Falls, and while the Sheriff's Dept. did acknowledge the right of portage for downstream or upstream travel, they questioned the legality of hanging out on the rock shelf next to Teardrop Falls for the purpose of running laps. Paddlers assert that this rock shelf is within the gradient boundary. The matter is currently being investigated and pursued through appropriate channels.
