The majority of the run is quickwater and class I; there are several flatwater areas. The bottom of the run has 5-6 short rapids ranging from class 2 to 3-4 in difficulty that can be portaged. The river is wide in most spots. Most class I rapids are short and shallow.
The run starts where the Upper Park section ends. Normally the take-out is at the park visitor center however you can add an additional three miles by taking out just inside the park entrance.
The park advises against drinking untreated river water.
