Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportI have not heard of boaters having issues. My last time I had the cops do laps around us in the empty parkinglot next to the gorge drop. It was winter. No questions. If in doubt scout the gorge for wood/current before gearing up and then scout quick or do it live when you get there. Right side of the spout is sweet. A little River Left of the line on the front picture. -wg
i've heard that kids swimming here have been harassed by the police, do paddlers have this same problem?
Lowish level for the run but more than enough for the Gorge section
Kevin tail flipping on a 20 degree day. A 4ft drop that is surely deadly at higher flows. Looks like a micro line boofing out on the projection of the pipe (far river right) could get you by a meaty ledge hole. Walking on the right is easy at higher levels.
The holes are a lot deeper than they look and there is a significant amount of current going under a river Left undercut aprox 8ft downstream of the boater. Boaters were knocking over a horizontal shelf VS bow knocking under it. *If* its big enough to fit a boat this could vertical pin you threateningly deep. If you can't see the undercut it probably is out of play while in your boat. It needs to be investigated at low water and posted.
After paddling the lake portage on the Left. The Dam is very shallow at the bottom.
Rough walk/climb down if you try to walk down to the river too soon. Walk about 100 yards
Kevin watching everyone drop the big one
Curly Steve setting up the mega sketchy seal launch
Not opting for the mega sketchy seal launch Kevin and Wayne finish a lower to put in
Rocky take off kicks this seal launch hard to the Left and nearly flat in the end.
Gearing up for Art's Quest to run everything obscure in PA. Lots of easy stuff at 20 degrees with some big stuff at the end.
Large park @ Elmhurst on River Left for Putin
Technical Entry Rapid to the Big Falls
Another perfect line making it look easy.
Sam in the 2nd hole skimming over the exposed undercut slot. Unknown if it is big enough for a boat but certainly big enough for part of a swimmer.
