Buck Creek

We did an overnight trip on Buck Creek May 8-May 9 2016 running around 1,200 cfs. Overall the trip was fantastic, we had a great time breaking in our boats on our first overnight trip. The creek was a bit lower than desirable, but everything was runnable with the right line with minor bumps and scrapes. The downer of the trip was a (~10 mi) flat water slog out through LOTS of floating trash in the upper reaches of the lake. The way I tell if it is runnable is checking the gauge on the Rockcastle River, if it is 800 CFS or more, you got a run. Anything around 800cfs is little scrappy in few spots up stream of RT 80

Buck Creek is one of the most scenic canoeing streams around. The difficulty level throughout is class I with maybe one or two rapids hovering close to class II. The best scenery is from highway 80 down.It is pretty much all moving water, so it's very easy without being dead flat.
