River Description
IMPORTANT!
This reach lies entirely within Menominee tribal lands. It is NOT LEGAL for non-Menominee Tribal members to paddle or even to walk to look at the section of river described here. Driving smaller roads ('Indian Tribal Roads') may also not be permitted. If in doubt in Menominee County, stick to paved roads. Arrest and conviction on trespassing charges in Menominee county may result in fine, imprisonment, and confiscation of any and all materials used in the act of trespass, up to and including vehicles!
While paddlers know the popular Wolf River well, it's West Branch is almost entirely unknown due to it's location on Menominee tribal lands, and the restrictions placed upon non-Menominees therein. That said, this stretch of river appears to have some serious gradient, and sufficient watershed to be theoretically runnable (were it not for the above stated restrictions). Since access is restricted, the listed difficulty rating is merely conjecture (based upon gradient and other assumptions) thus could be inaccurate. This reach is included for the sake of completeness and in the hope that someday the restrictions might change, and all mankind might have the same ability to experience this bit of nature.
