The best division point between the two sections of Gwynn's Falls in my humble opinion is the dam at Dickeysville. Above there the whitewater is no more difficult than class III and features three portages around dams (including the one in Dickeysville). Below there the river changes character and is more difficult and only has one 'low pipe portage'.

I put in at Reisterstown road once. In this section is a small dam that doesn't look too bad, but which forms a Class 6-7 hole at high water. Portage!

Also, at higher water, the section through Woodlawn Cemetery (above the bridge) is nice Class 3, but there is a powerful, serious hole directly underneath the bridge, where it's impossible to see if you're scouting from atop the bridge. Run right, but scout first.
