Very large diameter tree spanning the whole creek. It's below the pedestrian bridge and the steepest white water section, but just above the Stone Bridge (Beach Dr. auto crossing). It's at the bottom of a small boogie rapid, but would sneak up on you as it's at the bottom of the bend in the river just above the Stone Beach Dr. bridge.
At the low end of runnable flows it was mostly just above water level and out of the water. We barely ducked the very right bank side of it. Higher flows would make this a dangerous spot.
It's huge and not going anywhere any time soon.
as of 3/6/2011 with the creek at 3.2 and rising there is a river wide strainer in the form of a denuded tree necessitating put in just above the police station and precluding the usual put in just below the Joyce road bridge and USGS gauge. with another two feet it might submerge but that would mean the creek is cranking.
We ran this on 5/30/09 (Saturday morning @ 9:30-11:30). There were police at the mill preventing boaters from proceeding beyond that point. Running the dam was prohibited. Anyone setting shuttle for a longer run may want to leave a car at the mill...just in case.
