Log in to add a reportI paddled this on a nice spring day with Paul Plummer, Helen Hess, and Tom and Patti Rutka of the Penobscot Paddle and Chowder Society. We put in on the south shore of Spectacle Pond where the pond narrows. Look at the satellite version of the map and you'll see the access point. Supposedly, there is also another access point at the west end of the pond that will cut another mile off of the trip.
The river itself is a pleasant little stream winding through the woods with a few Class I+/II- spots. We did encounter some wood about 4.5 miles into the trip (3.5 miles after entering the stream from the pond).
If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, this isn't the stream for you, but it sure was a nice jaunt through the woods with friends.
We took out at the 179 bridge. Trip length: 10 miles.
