Area boaters are reporting that the gauge appears to have changed (Spring, 2009). While formerly levels of 2.6' (plus or minus about 0.3') were 'optimal', now you should be looking for 3.3' (plus or minus about 0.3').

There is also apparently some controversy about whether the reports from the DNR are accurate.
