Confluence with Emory River

Here Crab Orchard joins the Emory for a swift half hour float down to Oakdale when the water is up good. It is possible to paddle up the backwater of the Emory a ways and hit the terminus of an old road on state land, that leads a quarter mile up to Camp Austin Road. This old road is often impassable but occasionally can be driven down. But definitely don't when the water is rising, your vehicle could become stranded. It's not a bad walk up to Camp Austin Road even if you can't drive down though, and make logistics really nice for a bike shuttle on the lower 3 miles.
