"I couldn’t let them lock the gates on the boaters. This could be the last
weekend that the Upper Ocoee will run and I know there are folks who’d
really like to paddle it at least one more time." said Michael Phelan, AW
Events Director. Michael asks that all paddlers boating the river to please
take off in the eddy immediately below the footbridge just upstream of the
Whitewater Center so as not to interfere with the ongoing freestyle
competition and other course wide events. Paddlers are asked to carry
their boats around the competiton and put in immediately below the picnic
area footbridge to complete their run.
