American Whitewater recognizes Jeff Tallman as our May 2003 Volunteer of the Month for his tireless efforts on acquiring the Green River access point in North Carolina.

Jeff has spent hundreds of hours on Green River access and worked closely with Kevin Colburn, AW’s Eastern Regional Associate, and Sutton Bacon, AW Board of Directors.

Jeff works for a TV station in Greenville, SC is married and has two daughters; yet he has found the time to create AW’s Green River proposal, meet with the media, lead investor hikes, research funding, and build a coalition of interested parties in securing permanent public access to the Green for use as a take-out for a popular Class II-III section upstream, and put-in for the popular Class V+ Narrows sections downstream.

Tallman also participated in AW’s Great Fall of the Catawba paddling feasibility trip, and provided an AW presence at the “Tame the Tyger” race and at the Tallulah.

In nominating Tallman for Volunteer of the Month, Kevin Colburn observed that “Jeff has been a tireless and dedicated volunteer, and his love of great music makes him an easy shuttle and paddling partner.”

Thank you Jeff, for your commitment to excellence, and your dedication to AW’s success in achieving our mission.
