American Whitewater and Liquid Logic are cooperatively accepting rent contributions to maintain the $500/month payments for use of the privately-owned parking lot off of Gallimore Road that provides access to the Upper Green and Green River Narrows.
If the lot is going to remain open past March 1, the ENTIRE Green River paddling community must pitch in. If our ability to pay the rent falters due to insufficient funds, the parking lot will be locked starting in March and there is no guarantee that the lot will EVER reopen in the future.
There will be different stickers this year based on three giving levels:
Silver — $25 (for out-of-towners, summertime users, 4-5 trips a year, etc)
Gold — $50 (for folks who paddle the Green a lot and are up there more than 10 times/year)
Green — $100+ (for locals who paddle there every day and others who want to put their money where their mouth is)
You will be mailed a sticker for your helmet and car designating your rent level. Others can park on a day-use level for $5/day. We will have envelopes and tags for your rearview mirror (Ocoee-style), the lot will be checked often, and VIOLATORS WILL BE TOWED if you do not follow the rules.
You can send in your cash or a check made out to “American Whitewater” with “Green River Rent” in the memo to:
Green River Rent
765 Crest Road
Flat Rock, NC 28731
You can also go online at www.greenriveraccess.com and select “Green River Rent.” A current address must be included with your donation so we can send you a sticker.
For more information, please contact Sutton Bacon (sutton@suttonbacon.com) or Woody Callaway (woody@liquidlogickayaks.com). Please also note that rent payment are not considered donations to American Whitewater. AW and LiquidLogic are only administering your rent fund.
Thank you,
Green River Access Committee
