Safety Database Upgrade Ongoing

January 24, 2006

Thanks to the ongoing efforts of our webmaster the AW Safety Database has a new look and feel. It is a lot easier to find information. Accidents can be looked up by name or year and each accident is linked to the river where it occurred. With help from AW Web Guru Matt Muir I am now"populating" the database with accident descriptions from the River Safety Reports.

I have accident reports in digital form dating back to 1989 and hard copies dating back to 1974. From 2000-2005 we’re using descriptions from the accident report atricles in the AW Journal. The work is not yet finished. As of January 23 I have completed 1992-2005 and 1975-1988. Look it over; if you find errors please email me and I’ll correction them.

We are looking for someone with good typing and web skills who is willing to enter close calls and injuries data and accounts. You will recieve copies of all five editions of the River Safety Reports (including the rare first edition) as a thank you. Please email me with a brief statement of your interest, background, length of AW membership, and a phone contact.
