Last year, 2005, represented a time of high change within American Whitewater.  We relocated offices, streamlined staff, implemented new financial reporting procedures, focused on river stewardship, and remade the business model.  All of these changes took place to make the organization sustainable over the long-term.

Our focus on regional river stewardship has been very well received.  The AW organizational chart is vastly simplified from earlier incarnations and supports our core mission to conserve America’s whitewater rivers and enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely.  Our financial reporting transition is complete and provides more organizational transparency and better data for key decision-making.  In 2005, 80 cents on each dollar of revenue passed through to river stewardship projects that supported the AW mission.  Through organizational restructuring we put an end to the multi-year trend of spending more money than we generated.

The following report outlines some of the key milestones achieved in 2005.  These are building blocks for future successes.  Thank you all for the individual and corporate contributions that made 2005 a successful year for American Whitewater.  Our organization is positioned for long-term sustainability.

We’re in an excellent situation to make 2006 AW’s most successful year ever.
