Vermont Creek Boaters Needed to Volunteer

AW is seeking 1-5 Vermont creek boaters to visit and assess the whitewater potential of several dam influenced river reaches near Rutland, VT.  These reaches are currently off limits to the public but we will likely be able to get a hiking tour in collaboration with the dam/land owner.  Photographs indicate bedrock and gradient but it is impossible to tell whether these reaches actually contain whitewater resources that are of interest to the paddling community without a site visit.

Interested paddlers must be willing to take photos (preferably digital) and write a brief report of what is seen.  Video would be an added bonus, but photos are of higher value.  Volunteers will NOT get to paddle these reaches at this time and must act as good ambassadors for the paddling community.  As is often the case, these reaches may pan out to be of little interest recreationally.

The dams in question are up for relicensing, and AW strives to assess all rivers up for relicensing for whitewater potential.

Contact kevin@amwhitewater.org if you are interested, and thanks!
