ACCIDENT DATE:Jun 3, 2023 VICTIM NAME(s):Unidentified Boy STATE:Colorado RIVER:Colorado River – State Bridge to Burns LOCATION:Bond CO GAUGE READING:1800 cfs; DIFFICULTY:II+ A small 12-13′ self bailing raft with a fishing frame with drop anchor off the stern. I was told that the anchor deployed and caught on the bottom of the river in a swift and deep section of the river very near Bond CO. The anchor pulled the stern of the boat down into the water and the force of the current ripped the raft out from underneath the frame. Father and son were on the boat, father swam to shore but son was entrapped on frame. I responded as a rescuer. We pulled the child from the entrapment on the raft frame but he was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. Life jacket was in use but had to be removed to free child from entrapment.& Frame successfully removed from the river.
