St. Louis Scanner News – Fatal Kayak Incident, Current River: •The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G, reports the incident happened at 12:45 P-M today (6-1-25) on the Current River below Cave Spring. •The MSHP report states the water current pushed a female in a Jackson Kayak into a downed tree, the kayak overturned, and the female was swept under the tree. •The female, a 63-year-old from Salem, Missouri, was recovered by others in the area and later pronounced deceased on scene by the Shannon County Coroner at 2:27 P-M. By KY3 Staff Published: Jun. 2, 2025 SHANNON COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A woman from Salem, Mo., drowned while kayaking on the Current River Sunday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a strong current pushed the 63-year-old into a downed tree, causing the kayak to overturn. Other floaters pulled the woman from the water.
