Person dead after kayak flips over in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area By Michelle Wolf ,WFMZ News July 9, 2025 A kayaker is dead after capsizing in the Delaware River. It happened Wednesday afternoon in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Park rangers tell us the kayaker entered the river from the Bushkill Boat Launch, and while moving through rapids, capsized. Rescue crews got the call about a person in the water around 12:30 p.m. They were the only occupant in the kayak that flipped. Unfortunately, they did not survive, and their body was pulled from the water. The coroner is working to notify next of kin. Park rangers told us they’re not releasing more information until the kayaker’s family is contacted. More information is expected to be released Thursday.
