Description

Canoer, 19, disappears from Brazos River www.star-telegram.com (06-02-07) 06-01-07 BRAZOS RIVER, TX State and local rescue personnel were searching the Brazos River in southeast Hood County on Sat. afternoon (06-02) for a 19-y/o Missouri man who disappeared Fri. evening (06-01) after his canoe flipped over and strong currents carried him away. The man was not wearing a life vest, said Hood County Fire Marshal Roger Deeds. The missing man disappeared about 7:30 p.m. Fri. along the east banks of the Brazos River in Pecan Plantation, a private residential community about 9 mi. SE of Granbury. Two others who were in the canoe and who also were not wearing life vests managed to swim to shore. Deeds cautioned that the waters of the Brazos River are producing dangerous currents caused by all the rain that’s pelted North Texas the past month. http://www.star-telegram.com/state_news/story/123478.html
