LAW AND ORDER From staff and wire reports Friday, June 30, 2000 Walton child wades river, slips, drowns A 10-year-old Walton County girl drowned when she slipped while crossing the Chattooga River on the Georgia-South Carolina state line. Brittani Marie Briones of Monroe drowned about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. She had been wading with her father. Her mother, brother and sister were also at the river, according to Mike Willis, a spokesman for the South Carolina Natural Resources Department.
