Wetumpka police say a father in his sixties drowned Sunday afternoon, despite an all-out rescue effort. The victim is identified as 64-year-old Jimmy Debortoli of Montgomery. Officers say the man rented a kayak with his daughter. While on the river he got stranded in the water near Corn Creek Park. His daughter was not in the kayak. First responders and witnesses were able to grab him and free him from the rocks, but he was pronounced dead a short time later. June 21, 2009 Coosa River in Alabama.
