Man drowns after boat flips in Yellowstone River www.kxmb.com (Bismark, ND ( 06-16-07 LIVINGSTON, MT : A 74-y/o man drowned in the Yellowstone River over the weekend, after his drift boat flipped over in rapids. Park Co. Coroner Al Jenkins says Max Braune was not wearing a life vest. His body was pulled out of the water by a kayaker downstream. Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Hamilton says Braune was boating with a friend Sat. (06-16) when they missed a boat takeout site. The other person jumped out of the boat onto the E. bank of the river and tried to pull it to the shore, but the rope slipped out of his hands. Hamilton says the boat drifted to the W. side of the river into a small eddy. The other boater left to drive around to the other side to pick up Braune. Two nearby fishermen say Braune sat in the eddy for nearly 30 min. before trying to row back across the river. They told investigators he didn’t even make it halfway when he got caught in heavy rapids and flipped out of the boat. http://www.kxmb.com/News/135534.asp
