Body of East Stroudsburg man recovered along Delaware River Jul 18, 2017 02:30 PM EDT Monroe County officials have recovered the body of an East Stroudsburg man who was canoeing on the Delaware River. Park rangers and rescuers had been searching for Jose F. Loja, 35, since around 5 p.m. Sunday after his canoe capsized. Officials said rangers recovered his body around 4 p.m. Monday, along the Pennsylvania shoreline of the river, just north of Smithfield Beach. The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. Officials said the cause of death is under investigation. Loja was not wearing a life jacket.
