Description

Narrative by (name not provided) on 2016-04-10 (okay to publish): GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Crews are searching for a missing kayaker on the Rogue River. The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office says that Corey Maleski, 26, was reported missing on Sunday. They say that he put his kayak in at Tom Pierce Park and was planning to kayak to Riverside Park to meet his friends. Deputies say that when Maleski left Tom Pierce Park, he had a yellow life jacket tied to the front of his kayak. They say that it is missing and it is unknown if Maleski put it on. When Maleski’s friends arrived at Riverside Park, they were unable to find him. A witness says that she saw an oar and kayak drift by earlier in the day. The unoccupied kayak was found downriver from Riverside Park. If anyone sees a yellow life jacket floating or stuck in rocks or brush downriver from Riverside Park, call the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office at 541-474-5123.
