Description

Man drowns after canoe flips 3-07-10 SPRINGFIELD, OR kmtr.com (03-08-10) Springfield (KMTR) A beautiful Sat. (03-07) on the Willamette River turned deadly after a canoe overturned sending 2 men into the frigid water. Only one survived. The call for help came in just before 3:00 p.m. for a man in the water near Mahogany Lane S.of Springfield. Deputies say the 2 men were floating the river in a canoe when they came upon some rapids and their boat flipped over. One man was able to swim to shore. There were life jackets in the boat but neither man was wearing one. Sheriff’s Sergeant Dave Rogers said, “People need to remember they need to wear their life vests all the time. They don’t do any good when they’re sitting on them in a boat.” The victim’s name has not yet been released. http://www.kmtr.com/news/local/story/Man-drowns-after-canoe-flips/GBdQdbb4rUik7LenKqfvDQ.cspx
