The Devil’s Nose, Tiger Creek, and Electra Sections of the North Fork Mokelumne River have annually-scheduled releases as a condition of Pacific Gas & Electric’s Mokelumne River Hydroelectric Project. These releases are scheduled each year by American Whitewater and partners. Although Devil’s Nose Flows occur earlier in the year, Tiger Creek and Electra flows are commonly scheduled later in the year, in order to maximize recreational opportunities for the whitewater community.

The frequency and volume of the releases is contingent upon a given year’s Water Year Type as determined by the year’s Snow Surveys, represented in the Department of Water Resources’ Water Supply Bulletin 120, published each month of the Spring and finalized in May. 2026 is a Below Normal Water Year, which affords 8 days scheduled between April 1st and June 15th and with a flow of 700cfs.
Note: Extremely poor snowpack during this Water Year may impact PG&E’s ability to meet the 700cfs minimum release during the June Release dates on two consecutive days. For this reason, please note that the June releases are Fri/Sun rather than Sat/Sun. Releases are a minimum flow and observed flows in the reach may be higher. Additional boating opportunities may occur outside of this boating release schedule.
