Skip Church on FB – My friends there tell me that this person was paddling the flat, class 1 stretch of oxbows and goosenecks in between the commonly run “Starbuck to Riverbank” section and the “Downtown Schroon”. So not even class 2 but obviously high water and cold water.

State Police find missing kayaker in Schroon River deceased

State Police responded to reports of an overturned kayak on the Schroon River May 10, and found the body of the individual on May 11

May 10 State Police responded to the reports of an overturned kayak in the Schroon River in Warrensburg with a missing individual. The 21-year-old man was found deceased in the water. The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.

Troopers responded to the area of Library Avenue in Warrensburg for the report of an overturned kayak in the Schroon River. The investigation determined that the kayak had been occupied by a 21-year-old man from Yonkers before its discovery. The Warren County Marine Rescue Team and the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team searched the area into the early morning hours.

The body of the kayaker was found at about 6 p.m. on May 11.
