Sergeant Bob Tait of the West Vancouver police said the man left from a nearby fish hatchery on the river with another kayaker at about 1 p.m. With the river swollen with runoff after heavy rains, both kayakers quickly got into trouble. Only one was able to make it safely to shore. The name of the dead man wasn’t released pending notification of next of kin John Ramsay Welland Ontario Canada
